Samsung Super OLED TV coming to UK in spring?
(Update: Samsung responds) Samsung's 55-inch OLED TV unveiled at CES will arrive in the UK market sometime this spring, Samsung told CNET. It had originally been expected only closer to summer. The set was very impressive at the annual electronics show in Vegas, with deep black color reproduction, rich colors, and a claimed sub-8mm thickness.
The 3D-capable set will connect to the Internet and have access to apps, falling under Samsung's Smart TV offerings. There is also an integrated camera that faces the user and may allow gesture control, along with a dual-core processor. Users can share media from their Samsung smartphones and tablets with the TV thanks to AllShare Play.
Pricing remains unknown at this stage, though it will be on the high end of the spectrum. A US release is likely to come in the spring as well, and perhaps on the same date as in the UK.
Update: Samsung has told Electronista that the original story didn't have an accurate launch window and that the Super OLED set was still on track for the second half of the year.
