Trend Micro preps Internet security service for PS Vita

updated 06:15 pm EST, Mon February 13, 2012

Service available through annual subscription

Trend Micro has announced several Internet security services for Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld. The services will include two products, "Trend Micro Kids Safety" and "Trend Micro Web Security." The latter option is based on the company's "web reputation" system that blocks users from accessing websites that may contain malicious content.

The Kids Safety feature enables parents to control which websites their children can access from the device's integrated browser.

Both services are already available in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Customers in North America will be able to subscribe as soon as the device arrives on the local market, with prices set at $20/year for one or $35/year for both.
