Prices set to rise from 2011 models
Pricing details for Samsung's 2012 HDTV lineup may have surfaced ahead of schedule. A leaked price list, which was posted by HD Guru, suggests that the company may be raising the minimum advertised price (MAP) for many of its latest LCD and plasma televisions. The high-end 8000 series LED-backlit LCDs are said to start at $2699 for the 46-inch variant, while the 75-inch model is expected to command $7299.
Stepping down to the 7500 series, which also offers a 0.2-inch bezel, 240Hz refresh rate and 3D capabilities, brings a slight drop in prices. Each size is said to cost $300 less than the 8000 series, bringing the 46-inch variant to $2399 and the 60-inch edition to $3699. The 7100 series shaves off another $200 from the MAP.
Among the company's midrange LCDs, the 6100 starts at $1099 for the 40-inch size and raises to $2599 for the 60-inch model. The 6500 series adds 3D capabilities and jumps by $300 across the range of panel sizes.
Entry-level models start at $499 for the 32-inch 5000 series, which goes up to 50 inches for $1199, while the 5300 series brings connected features for an additional $30 to $100 depending on the size.
The company's high-end 8000 series plasma panels reportedly start at $2249 for the 51-inch size and rise to $3399 for the 64-inch panel. The 7000 series slashes $600 from the prices, while the 6500 series drops by $250 for the 59-inch model.
Samsung has yet to officially confirm the pricing structure for its 2012 televisions. [via Engadget]
