Samsung ships self-branded SD, microSD cards

SD card capacities up to 32GB

Samsung has announced that it is ready to ship its full line of SD and microSD cards that will be sold under the company's own branding. The lineup includes seven new models in the 'High Speed' series and 'Plus Extreme Speed' series. The latter offerings include 8GB and 16GB Class 10 SD and microSD cards that are claimed to support 21MB/s write speed and 24MB/s read speed.

The standard series is said to support read speeds up to 24MB/s and write speeds up to 13MB/s on any cards with 8GB capacity or higher, though the company offers a range of sizes starting at 2GB with slower data transfer speeds.

The faster series carries price tags of $30 and $55 for the 8GB and 16GB cards, respectively, for both SD and microSD variants. The High Speed series 32GB cards can be purchased for $90, while the 16GB editions will retail for $45. Lower capacities range in price from $10 for the 2GB variant to $25 for 8GB of storage.
