Uses RF dongle, accelerometer to steer

Remote iOS-controlled toy maker iHelicopters has announced the immediate availability of its latest creation, the iPhone Controlled Stunt Car Racer. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery and using an RF dongle attached to the headphone jack of the iPhone, the little racer can roam up to 66 feet for up to 15 minutes of race time. The unit leverages the accelerometer of iOS devices for steering.

The car, which measures 4.33 inches by 2.75 inches and stands about an inch tall, allows buyers to steer the car without touching the screen of their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Users download a free companion app and control speed or braking with a slider on the screen, but only need tilt the device left or right for the car to do the same.

The units are available by direct order to the company's website, and cost $50 each with free worldwide shipping included. The software works with all iOS devices and the charger can recharge the car and transmitter in about an hour. The car is available in two different colors, green and orange.
