Xperia U to get 5MP cam, removable battery

The upcoming Sony Xperia U, sporting model number ST25i and Kumquat codename, has once again shown up on the web in photos. This time, it's compared to the Xperia S and is much smaller than the already known model, which gets a 4.3-inch screen. The 3.5-inch Xperia U could get a user-removable battery, unlike the S.

While no major hardware specs were revealed, the phone should have a 1,290mAh capacity and use a full-sized SIM card. The screen should have a 480x854 resolution but no HDMI, with the rear camera sporting a five-megapixel sensor, LED flash and 1080p video recording. A dual-core 1GHz chip should power the phone, which will initially ship with Android 2.3.7 before getting the Android 4.0 update.

The Xperia U is expected to be officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress next week along with the Xperia P (LT22i, or Nypon). It should look very similar to the U. [via XperiaBlog]
