HTC teases 'fast' new phones for MWC

May hint at launch of consolidated "One" family

HTC has dropped hint that it officially may be announcing five new devices at its Mobile World Congress event on Sunday. The phone maker has popped the silhouette of a handset on its Facebook wall with the number five emblazoned across its screen. Below, HTC offers the cryptic message that "this Sunday you’ll discover something fast."

HTC, whose profits have slipped by 25 percent in recent months, has acknowledged recently that it may have flooded the market with too many models and variants. The "5" could reference a consolidation of offerings in the future.

Two phones most likely on the list are the One V and One XL. The One V is expected to be powered by a 1GHz processor and sport a 3.7-inch display and five-megapixel camera. The One XL could be a replacement for the Sensation XL. Two other candidates are the One X and One S. The One X is expected to run Android 4.0 on a large 4.7-inch HD display. Little is known about the One S other than it might be powered by a dual-core processor. What the fifth device might be is still subject to speculation.

    They have no idea....

after just coming out and saying their pursuit of LTE customers cost them dearly because their phones had dismall battery life they trhow that all out and continue to push fast phones with poor battery life.

An anology is to market a car with a V8 motor with poor fuel consumption because on a very few occasions you may need to go 300 mph. the V6 engine is the way to go because it offers the best balance between power and energy efficiency.
