Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G hits T-Mobile for $150 in March

Samsung Galaxy S Blaze launched ahead of WMC

The Samsung Galaxy S Blaze, first teased in early January has been confirmed by T-Mobile to be landing on the network in 'late March' for $150 on a two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate is applied. The device is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It supports 42Mbps HSPA+ speeds, which T-Mobile claims is faster than the average home Internet2 broadband connected to a home.

The Galaxy S Blaze centers on a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and sports a 5-megapixel rear camera that shoots video at up to 720p, with a 1.3 front-facing camera for video chatting. While it boats a respectable set of hardware specs, the only real disappointment for users is that it will ship with the superseded Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS with no word on when it might be updated to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The Galaxy S Blaze 4G announcement arrives just ahead of World Mobile Congress next week, where it is likely to be put into the shade by a range of smartphones running ICS, with some expected to sport NVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The early discounted offer makes the device attractive for cost-conscious buyers in the market for decent performance; however, while it is likely to receive and ICS update, Android makers including Samsung seem unable to push fast OS upgrades to devices despite promises to the contrary.
