System to be previewed next week

Ericsson has reportedly made significant advancements in its network technology, enabling certain devices to achieve much faster upload speeds. The technology is said to triple upload speeds on HSPA networks, bringing the theoretical maximum speed up to 12Mbps in ideal conditions.

The improvements are said to be made through changes to base stations, adding more antennas to help pick up weak signals transmitted from the devices. Speed is said to be further boosted by enhancements to interference reduction algorithms.

The company is expected to preview the technology next week at Mobile World Congress, however plans for real-world deployment remain unclear. [via GigaOM]
