Samsung to pay customers up to $650 over broken LCD TVs

Samsung has reportedly agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit that centers around defective televisions that the company has sold over the past several years. The settlement entitles affected customers to receive up to $650 to cover the cost of diagnosis, shipping and past or future repairs.
The list of affected products includes a number of different models in Samsung's LCD, plasma and DLP television lineup. Broken devices are said to have been affected by capacitor failures, requiring circuit boards to be replaced by service technicians.
The company has published a settlement page on its website, where users can reference a list of serial numbers for TVs that are included in the program.
The full extent of the financial impact remains unclear, though settlements in the US alone are expected to reach into the millions. [via DailyTech]
