Dropbox for Android now auto syncs photos, iOS version soon

Dropbox offers mobile version with photo sync
Following the release of a beta version of its Dropbox for Android that automatically syncs users photos to their cloud-based Dropbox storage space, Dropbox has now released the app to the Android Market. Although very similar to the way that Apple’s iCloud-based Photostream service, or the equivalent Google+ service works, Dropbox CEO Drew Houston holds the view that neither service is currently in wide use. Further, most people still don’t use Macs and the Google+ service downscales photos, where the Dropbox service does not.
If users opt to have the full quality image synced to the cloud, Dropbox will gradually offer users of the free version of Dropbox up to 5GB of storage gradually (in 500MB increments) as their storage used exceeds the standard 2GBs of free space. Any interrupted uploads will also be automatically resumed, saving data over 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi.
Dropbox also expects to release and iOS version of their mobile Dropbox app soon that will also include this functionality, although no timeframe has currently been offered.
