Microsoft outs business apps for Nokia Belle

Nokia and Microsoft this week released the first batch of productivity apps for the former's handsets running on Nokia Belle phones. Called Microsoft Apps, the free productivity suite includes four programs usually only found on Microsoft's own platforms. A common thread with multiple smartphone OS bases is OneNote, which lets users create documents containing text and images.

These notebooks are then synced with SkyDrive, Microsoft's cloud service, and are then accessible from any Windows device.

Document Connection will show all documents on a user's device, e-mail attachments, and in SharePoint. They can then be organized and filtered by sender, time, and document type. Lync 2010 Mobile is an office instant messenger program that allows for multi-party chat. Users can set their online status as well.

Finally, PowerPoint Broadcast syncs PowerPoint presentations on a PC to user's phones. Lync audio messages can also be combined here. A software update is required to get these apps.

More Microsoft apps are said to be coming in the next few months for Nokia Belle, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The current apps are compatible with the Nokia E7, C7, C6-01, X7, Oro, 700, 701, and 603, while the N8, E6 and 500 will get them later.
