OWC updates SSD firmware

SoftRAID has announced that the latest version of its self-titled software for creating and managing disk arrays is fully compatible with OS X Mountain Lion. SoftRAID 4.3 also improves the robustness of mirror volumes, allowing the driver to better handle disk failures that occur during the middle of a read or write operation. Other changes include support for Macintosh Firmware updates, updated SSD support, and improved command line functions. SoftRAID is $129 for the electronic download version and includes one year of free technical support via e-mail. It can be purchased via the SoftRAID website and via retail outlets worldwide.

OWC release new SSD firmware

A new version of OWC's firmware for its line of SandForce Driven Mercury drives has been released. The v5.0.1 update is strictly a maintenance release and improves both performance and stability. OWC's proprietary firmware updated, which includes support for all of Apple's latest Mac models, prevents the need for a PC or a specially designated drive partition that many SSD updaters require.
