HTC One S pairs midrange features with midsize build

Dual-core phone fills the middle of the One lineup
Some companies are focusing solely on flagship devices this week at Mobile World Congress, but HTC has introduced a trio of devices that run the gamut from entry-level to top-tier. The One S fits directly in the middle of the series, bringing a midrange set of hardware features and a midsize build that fits between the flagship One X and the smaller One V.
The One S is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon processor that runs at 1.5GHz, which is expected to compete with high-end devices currently on the market but lacks the quad-core configuration of the One X and several other handsets that have been brought to Barcelona this week. The 960x540 display spans 4.3 inches, slightly smaller than the HD panel on the One X.
With an enclosure measuring just 7.9mm thick, the S is said to be HTC's thinnest phone yet. The aluminum housing has been treated with a light-to-dark gradient and microarc oxidation (MAO), creating a crystalline layer that is claimed to be four times harder than standard anodization.
HTC has yet to announce a specific launch date for the One S, though T-Mobile has been confirmed as a US carrier. The series will begin arriving in April.
