13-inch shows strong resemblance to MacBook Air

Dell has begun shipping its XPS 13 ultrabook. Dell unveiled the computer at CES in January. The device bears a strong resemblance to the Apple MacBook Air, albeit with a heavier body.

The portable integrates a 13.3-inch LCD encased in aluminum and protected with Gorilla Glass. The base configuration incorporates an Intel 1.6GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM, Intel graphics, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. The entry model provides a 128GB SSD hard drive. A mid-tier version increases the storage to 256GB. The top of the line model replaces the Core i5 processor with a 1.7GHz Core i7.

The basic model is priced at $1,000. Upping the storage to 256GB increases the price to $1,300. The i7 version is priced at $1,500. Dell is offering a T-Mobile 4G hotspot with 90 days of network access as a free promo for those who buy in early. [via Laptop Reviews]
