Samsung intros 10.1-inch Galaxy Note

updated 03:00 am EST, Mon February 27, 2012

Big brother to the 5-inch model

Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Note lineup to include a 10.1-inch tablet. The Note 10.1 integrates a 1280x800 display that appears to match the Galaxy Tab 10.1 panel, though the new model jumps from a 1GHz chip to a 1.4GHz dual-core processor to match the five-inch Note.

The Note 10.1 keeps the same two-megapixel front-facing camera as its smaller counterpart, however the larger tablet steps down from an eight-megapixel camera to a three-megapixel shooter with autofocus and flash for the back panel.

The company has reworked the original S Note and S Planner apps to run on Android 4.0 and take advantage of the larger display. Both sizes enable users to take advantage of stylus input for input via the optional S Pen accessory.

Samsung has yet to disclose pricing details or a launch date for the Galaxy Note 10.1.

    Can't Copy Apple

    So they copy Palm... from the 1990's. Way to innovate boys.

    Bet MadGoat never used Graffiti;

    Lets you take notes without looking at a miniscule software keyboard, and once you learn it, it's very fast.

    So do not make fun of 90's technology, as Palm sank for bad management, it's minimalistic approach was loved by quite a few execs back then.

    Sorry Samsung...

    But the Chinese firm Proview had a trademark on the word "Note" first, so you won't be able to sell those in China or anywhere else until you pay them $80 million.

    @Arne

    The problem is that I can guarantee you that I can type faster than you can write and have the app interpret what you are trying to say. Also, you'd have to admit that a keyboard would be far more accurate, considering the app cannot interpret all of the variations in style and neatness of handwriting.
