Zinio set to launch PlayBook app within weeks

App said to be set for mid-March release

Zinio has reportedly confirmed that it is set to bring its magazine reader app to RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook platform within the next few weeks. In a Twitter post, the company noted that the PlayBook app is set for a mid-March release.

The digital publishing company has primarily focused on the two most popular mobile platforms: iOS an Android. A report that surfaced late last year suggests Zinio's apps are just as popular as Barnes & Noble's Nook utility and Apple's own publishing platform. The company's iOS app has maintained a strong status among the highest-grossing news apps, floating between the top spot and its current place in the third spot.

Zinio currently offers a broad range of magazine content, including National Geographic, Maxim, Popular Science, Playboy, Road & Track, and Rolling Stone, among others.

Zinio has yet to announce an exact launch date for its PlayBook app. [via N4BB]
