Backs up claims of new Apple TV model soon
Apple has been postponing resupplying indirect channel partners with the Apple TV for three straight weeks, according to AppleInsider sources. Partners and channel members have reportedly seen Apple push back deliveries by a week each consecutive week. These kinds of delays are known to be a sign that Apple is winding down one product in favor of an imminent replacement.
The current Apple TV has become increasingly scarce throughout February, with Best Buy shutting off sales, and other vendors like Amazon displaying little stock. Rumors suggest that a new model could launch alongside the iPad 3. What the hardware might feature is unknown, but it could make the leap to 1080p video, and use a new processor called the A5X. The A5X has also been linked to the iPad 3, although most reports have hinted that Apple will use an A6 in that device instead. Apple is scheduled to announce the next-generation iPad on March 7th.

those same folks
would be pissed if they had just gotten a huge shipment of non returnable Apple TV 2 and a new one was released.
Apple stalling, if they are, is doing them a favor
