Facebook outs Pages for brands with Timeline-like look

Facebook brand pages redesigned, get new features

Social network Facebook has just introduced Pages for brands that will differ from regular user pages by offering larger photos, the ability to highlight or pin important posts that stay up for a week, and improved activity and management. The look mimics that of the Timeline update to personal pages. The larger photos are better suited to promote businesses, bands, and products.

The redesign includes the ability to respond to recent activity and private messages right from the top of a Page. Milestones can also be saved for as long as seven days, with an accompanying date and other content.

There are some caveats, however, as Pages cannot be direct banners or ads prompting users to visit a sale, download a product, or contain web links, e-mails, or phone numbers. It also cannot be designed to urge users to click on the Like or Share buttons. [via SlashGear]
