Mobiado intros Grand Touch Aston Martin Android handset

updated 11:15 pm EST, Mon March 5, 2012

Luxury housing placed on Nexus S internals

Mobiado has introduced a new luxury smartphone under the company's Grand Touch label. The new offering is borne of collaboration with Aston Martin, bringing a logo and design elements from the high-end British car brand, though the internals and Android Gingerbread build are taken directly from Samsung's Nexus S.

The housing is CNC machined from a block of aluminum, with a choice between bare metal and a black anodized finish. Another variant is cut from solid brass with rose gold or yellow gold accents, while ebony wood and mother-of-pearl are available for inlay. All models offer scratch-resistant sapphire crystal to protect the touchscreen.

The Grand Touch Aston Martin is available as an unlocked handset with quad-band GSM And tri-band HSDPA connectivity, sharing the same four-inch WVGA display, dual-cameras and other hardware specs with the Nexus S.

Mobiado has yet to announce pricing information or a launch date. [via Unwired View]
