Shipments allegedly occurring in bulk

Sealed boxes of iPad 3 cases are starting to show up at Best Buy stores, a source claims. Each box is noted to have a sticker with a warning: "Do not display until official iPad 3 launch." This may suggest that "iPad 3" is the next-generation iPad's official name, but it could alternately be a placeholder.

Early case shipments are said to include over 1,000 Targus Versavu 360 units, meaning that accessory makers are already shipping in bulk. If so, an iPad 3 launch is likely just weeks away, since Apple accessories rarely make it to American retailers before a product launch is imminent.

Some iPad 3 cases may require slight redesigns from their iPad 2 counterparts. The 3 is believed to be roughly 1mm thicker, an unusual backtracking on size by Apple, even if it will still make the tablet far thinner than the iPad 1. The space made be needed to fit things like a 2048x1536 display, a quad-core processor, LTE, and a superior battery.
