Previously was CTO for Health & Human Services
President Obama has appointed Todd Park as the new US Chief Technology Officer. Park will replace Aneesh Chopra, who resigned in January. Previously, Park served as CTO of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Park held that position for almost three years. One of his major accomplishments was to create HealthCare.gov, a web-based tool to provide consumers with an inventory of public and private health insurance plans available across the Nation by ZIP code.
President Obama created the position of US CTO when he first took office. Its charter is to help bring mew technology to the normally conservative government. Chopra's departure is believed by Washington insiders to be equally for supporting the President in his re-election bid as well as to let him run for the post of Lieutenant Governor in his home state of Virginia.
