Toshiba crosses the Ivy Bridge with GeForce 600M

Toshiba has revamped its Satellite P range with the launch of the P8-series. The new line will ship in Q2 and will feature Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge processors and Intel’s GeForce 600M, although the company is remaining somewhat coy in outing the new components by name in its press materials. The full line-up includes two 15.6-inch notebooks (P-850, P855) and two 17.6-inch notebooks (P870, P875).

In addition to picking up the latest in processing and graphics performance, the P855 also incorporates glasses-free 3D capabilities that includes head tracking to help retain an optimal image. HD screens with LED backlighting can be found across the range, as well as Blu-ray support. In addition to the inclusion of HDMI, Toshiba has also opted for Intel’s Wi-Di, wireless display technology. The multi-media credentials of the range are rounded out by the inclusion of Harmon Kardon audio with SRS Premium 3D sound with the ability to play music, even when the notebooks are in sleep mode.

The P8-series of Satellite notebooks will ship with hard drive capacities up to 1TB, while some iterations can be configured with a hybrid 750GB spinning hard drive paired with an 8GB SSD for faster boot times. Connectivity includes four USB 3.0ports across all models, while 802.11n Wi-Fi will keep wireless transfers fast. The notebooks are also Bluetooth Smart hub compliant, using the Bluetooth 4.0 specification.

No pricing or specific release details for the US were available at the time of writing.
