Pioneer mixer can be used as MIDI controller

Pioneer has just launched the RMX-1000 Remix Station to help DJs during live performances. There are four remixing functions, including Isolate FX, Scene FX, X-Pad FX, and Release FX. Users also get remixbox editing software bundled that lets them customize virtually all the feature set.

The Scene FX section of the mixer has a choice of five build-up and five breakdown effects. Knobs adjust the parameter of effects to change their sound and effect. Isolate FX has three knobs to process the low, mids, highs, and gets three more effects. X-Pad FX offers a touchpad with audio samples including Kick, Snare, Clap, and Hi Hat, though other samples can be added from the remixbox software through the SD card slot. Finally, Release FX is a lever that cuts the music while retaining only the sound effects, or vice versa. Types include Vinyl Brake, Echo, and Back Spin.

The station can also act as a USB controller when configured with the included VST/AU RMX-1000 plugin app. A USB-to-MIDI port allows for MIDI controllers.

The mixer arrives in June for $1,000.
