Seagate tackles external Thunderbolt storage

Seagate has continued to expand its GoFlex hard drive system, which features interchangeable interfaces for interoperability between various connection types. The company's latest adapters enable users to upgrade their existing GoFlex drives with a Thunderbolt interface to take advantage of fast transfer speeds on Apple's latest Macs and a number of upcoming Windows machines. In our full review, we'll take a closer look at the Thunderbolt adapter for GoFlex portable drives.

    A review of the review...

From the article it looks like only one SATA device was tested using the adapter and that was not an SSD but a spinning disk with its own limitation. Were you trying to test the go drive or the adapter? All the rest of the figures given appear to be hearsay and I must admit to being puzzled as to their relevance (esp. Since they refer to figures obtained by unknown means under unknown testing conditions).

Why would plugging in another SATA connected device (other than a Go Drive) void the warranty? I would certainly want to know the answer to that before buying the adapter.

From the picture in the review it appears another bare drive was plugged in but no figures are given for that drive and no benchmark using the adapter.

I would like to see a proper and useful review of this adapter. I am disappointed by this review which tells me very little about the adapter's capabilities.

Or, perhaps it's just low blood sugar and I need to go eat some dinner.
