Third-gen Roku HD inbound

Roku has had its third-gen Roku HD box revealed by the FCC as it goes through its wireless certification. The new box retains the same design as previous versions, however it is highlighted by the return of full-size composite outputs. FCC notes also show that the device will pick up a new remote control when it ships.

The third-gen Roku HD does away with the microSD slot, although internal shots reveal that the new box will ship with 2GB of NAND flash memory and a Broadcom BCM7208 processor.

Although Roku has not announced the new media streaming player, the current Roku 2 HD is listed on the company’s website as being out of stock. If that is any indication, it seems that Roku will be set to have an answer to the revamped AppleTV in the near future. [via Wireless Goodness]
