Google acknowledges odd Gmail flickering bug on Android

Gmail on Android gets unusual flicker bug

Google has acknowledged an unusual problem with Gmail on Android preventing access for some users. Some users opening the app see rapid flickering that not only makes it hard to read but often unusable. The issue doesn't appear to be device-specific and affects HTC, Motorola, and others.

The bug may affect pre-Android 4.0 users, since many of those who have complained are using Android 2.3 or earlier. Electronista's devices so far aren't affected.

Google is planning to deliver a fix "shortly," although it hasn't said when. Gmail is considered a separately upgradable app and will only need a fix through the Google Play Store rather than new firmware. [via Android Central]
