Identical screen, smaller dock connector hinted

The next-generation iPhone will have LTE, and should ship in the fall, according to iMore sources. The site notes that LTE may almost be a given, since the cellular technology is already an option for the third-generation iPad. The fall timetable is still in dispute, but iMore says it has learned that a previously-reported October 2012 target is still likely Apple's plan.

The site is also holding to earlier claims that the new iPhone could have a smaller dock connector, and continue to use a 3.5-inch screen, despite a growing number of competing smartphones measuring 4 inches or larger. The 3.5-inch size is not said to be guaranteed, though, and so Apple could still go slightly larger.

Most recently iMore successfully predicted the March 7th announcement of the new iPad, as well as its LTE support. The mention of a iPhone new dock connector may actually be more controversial, since it would force accessory makers to overhaul entire product lines.
