Manual references Chrome OS

Sony appears to be preparing to bring a Vaio-branded Chromebook onto the market, as the VCC111 series. The company has yet to formally unveil the device, however the FCC has posted pictures of the notebook with a keyboard layout that omits the Windows key. The pictures are accompanied by literature that includes directions to "start Chrome OS."

The FCC documents do not shed any additional light on unique features or hardware specs, though the Vaio offering, like many other Chromebooks, is expected to target the budget market.

Recent reports suggest Google and hardware manufacturers are having a difficult time finding enthusiastic buyers for the search giant's alternative desktop OS. The systems are said to be struggling to make headway against traditional Mac and Windows notebooks, along with the iPad and other tablets. [via Laptop Reviews]
