Path app for Windows Phone under development says CEO

Path set to arrive on WP7

The popular social networking Path (Free, App Store) is under development according to the company’s CEO Dave Morin. Currently the app is only available on iOS and Android (Free, Google Play) and already has a user base of over 2 million. Morin said that although the iOS platform accounts for 80 percent of its development time, he believes that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS is ‘impressive.’

Path differs from Facebook, for example, in that it only works within the mobile app, and limits friends to just 50, forcing a user to pick just their closest friends. However, it is designed to work with popular sites including Facebook and others, and is not designed to replace those networks.

Users of the app report that by limiting their friends to those that they are most intimate with, they can share their experiences more freely without having to worry about spamming their wider social network on Facebook. However, it does require a user’s friends to use the application as well and relies on them downloading it and logging in through its unique portal. [via WM PowerUser]
