Apple may get sports updates throigh voice search

A new discovery within code for Siri has suggested that Apple is about to start a tie-in with ESPN for voice-guided sports search. iOS app writer Evan Coleman found that Siri now recognizes sports teams as whole voice tokens, or search elements, rather than breaking it up into individual words. He noted that ESPN had just recently posted a limited-access API for accessing its sports scores from an app, and that the company when asked was unusually non-committal on its answer as to whether plans were underway.

"As you can imagine ESPN works closely with Apple on many fronts," the TV network told Coleman.

Apple hasn't commented on the finding.

In its current form, Siri already taps into several third-party services, including Yelp for restaurants and shops as well as Wolfram Alpha for certain knowledge-based questions and Yahoo for weather. ESPN would fit that pattern and could end up reducing or eliminating the need for apps that focus on live scores. As a cloud-based service, Siri doesn't need a software update for this to work and could start recognizing sports scores as soon as it's ready. [via AppleInsider]

    Fix SIRI first

Apple should not SIRIously focus on fixing the current abilities of SIRI and save it from being sued over and over again before it integrates any new functions or fancy operations.
