Investigating providing texts & news over speakers

The Jawbone Jambox may soon be getting a smartphone app. The company has been surveying its customers to find out what features they would like most on their portable Bluetooth speaker. Most likely, the app would be developed for Android driven devices.

Jawbone has asked owners if they would like an app to vocalize over the Jambox's speakers stock prices, Twitter updates, sports scores, news headlines, text messages, and possibly even calendar events. It would parallel a similar app platform for its headsets.

The Jambox is a brick-shaped battery powered wireless audio system. The $200 device doubles as a speakerphone and is best known for being unusually powerful for its size. [via Zatz Not Funny]
