Logitech BCC950 combines HD cam, speakerphone

Logitech has just unveiled its BCC950 ConferenceCam, meant for meetings. It's the first device to combine a 1080p webcam with a full-duplex speakerphone. The camera connects over USB and an included remote control or control pad lets users pan, tilt, and zoom the camera to focus on anyone or anything in the room.

The speaker is said to pick up voice clearly from up to eight feet away. The camera has a 78-degree field of view and a 180-degree panning range. It comes Skype-certified and optimized for Microsoft Lync, although neither is absolutely necessary.

The camera uses a Carl Zeiss lens with an autofocus feature, allowing close-up views of documents as well.

The BCC950 will ship in May, priced at $250, though it will only be available to businesses. It works with both Macs and Windows PCs.
