PlayMemories Studio handles photos

Sony's hinted at PS3 photo editing suite has reached North America through PSN. PlayMemories Studio on the PS3 both provides a more efficient, timeline-based way of organizing photos and videos than the stock interface as well as a way to edit them on the game console. Along with art filters, users can lay on captions and scripts as well as introduce slower playback and sound effects on videos.

It's now possible to find geotagged photos on a map, and the organizer can see content on removable USB devices without having to import it first. Once ready, it's possible to share either through Facebook or through Sony's unifying cloud service PlayMemories Online, which is due to switch on in April.

Unlike most of Sony's software add-ons for the PS3, PlayMemories Studio costs $15. Those uncertain about whether they'll use the app can use it for free in a 30-day trial.
