Android 4.0.4 reaches AOSP form

Android 4.0.4 now at Google's open-source project

Google's software engineer for the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) Jean-Baptiste Queru revealed on Wednesday that Android 4.0.4 code has now made it into the AOSP's virtual repository. The so-called incremental update nevertheless represents a few hundred changes when compared to Android 4.0.3. When the software will arrive on consumer devices, however, isn't clear, and even Queru said the schedule is up in the air and depends on carrier's own customizations.

The move will bring the code to developers who create custom ROMs, allowing them to fix bugs in their products. Developers can contribute to the master branch online.

The 4.0.4 update has been leaked for the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus early last month and, earlier today, another leak had the OS coming to the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi any day now. [via Android Central]
