Release offers stability and forward compatibility

Google has released Version 1 of its Go programming language. Announced in 2009, the software is intended to provide a general networked and multi-core computing language. As part of the release, Go is supporting Windows-based developers natively for the first time.

Go, in part, is derived from C. It also incorporates design concepts from Pascal, Newsqueak, and Limbo. Go's development team claims the release is very stable and will be forward compatible with any future releases. In conjunction with Release 1, Google has updated its cloud-based App Engine SDK to support Go. [via SiliconFilter]
