Software updated to v6.3
Amazon has released yet another software update for its Kinde Fire tablet. Version 6.3 adds several new features, including sharing capabilities that allow users to send favorite passages and notations to other users and social networking services such as Facebook and Twitter.
Users can also take advantage of a Shelfari-powered feature, Book Extras, that provides access to related content, including character descriptions, information about the author and frequently used terms.
The company has also optimized its Silk browser to behave like the Kindle reading app, with a Reading View that separates text content from website clutter. Single- or multi-page articles can be loaded into single-screen view, with an option to toggle back to the traditional view to access other website features.
Other new features include print replica textbooks for students, personal document archives stored in the Amazon Cloud, and enhancements to Wi-Fi functionality and overall performance.
The software update is now available directly from the Fire tablet as an automatic download or manual transfer via USB cable.
