Future within company a mystery
HP has moved webOS CTO Sam Greenblatt out of his role as leader of the company's Open webOS project. Greenblatt had headed the initiative after HP created the group in January to move the OS, which had been the foundation of HP's now defunct TouchPad hardware platform and software, to an open standards-based architecture.
Open webOS is built upon a Linux kernel which resides under Apache 2. HP had hoped in doing so, it could attract operability on a wider range of hardware beyond what HP had originally intended.
HP gave no reason why Greenblatt has been pushed aside. There is some indication that developers within the company were unhappy at the speed at which the Open webOS program was moving. Although Greenblatt will remain with the company, HP has given no indication in what capacity. [via webOS Nation]
