Best Buy advises customers of HTC One X launch
Best Buy has started contacting customers who have pre-ordered the HTC One X for AT&T to advise its rumored launch has been moved to May 6. Previous reports had the device pegged for a mid-May launch. To date, the only official international launch announcement for the eagerly awaited class-leading Android device is that it will go on sale in Austria, Germany and Switzerland from April 2 with other countries to follow.
According to one anonymous device tester for AT&T who has discussed his experience with the HTC One X during field tests said that the Android 4.0 flagship had very good battery life for an LTE device. This was likely due to the Snapdragon SoC including a next-gen integrated LTE chip. He also said that the device was both thin and light, and that its build quality was strong.
Since its unveiling at the Mobile World Congress, the device has become the hottest Android smartphone on the market in the absence of any announcement from Samsung about its forthcoming Galaxy S III. An NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor powered the version revealed by HTC, however the US market will receive a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 variant.
Somewhat surprisingly, benchmarks of the HTC One X show that it blows past the Tegra 3 in performance, suggesting that the step down to a dual-core device is actually a step up. The US model will pick up a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 1.5GHz version of the S4 and will include an 8-megapixel rear camera. [via Android Central]
