Dates at odds with official Motorola position

A new round of smartphones may be getting Android 4.0 shortly. Phone Arena reports from a source that Best Buy has supposedly said on one of its an internal employee websites that the Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX, as well as the HTC Rezound, will be getting updates over the air (OTA) next week. Motorola's official position still has no official timing for the updating these Verizon phones in the US.

According to the claimed Best Buy website, both the 16GB and 32GB Droid RAZRs and the RAZR MAXX start updates next Wednesday. HTC Rezound customers could expect getting their new release on Friday, if the timetable is accurate.

Motorola still hasn't confirmed this schedule. Its most recent posting on updates in its Owners' Forum, dated February 15, still has the update in the "In Evaluation & Planning" stage. Before any upgrades take place, the company advises that the software must go through a Development phase and Testing stage before it will be distributed, which can take months.

So far, the only Android 4.0 device on Verizon is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which shipped with the OS in December.
