Samsung Galaxy Note ad wins "most effective" honors in Q1

Rating contrasts to Super Bowl campaign
Samsung's Galaxy Note commercial titled "The Best of a Phone and Tablet" has been rated the most effective ad for the first quarter of the year, according to a survey conducted by analyst firm Ace Metrix. The televised commercial is said to have achieved a higher score than ads from Doritos and M&Ms, which rounded out the top three.
The Galaxy Note commercial scored 686 points out of 950, based on respondents answers to questions regarding persuasion, relevance and watchability, among other factors.
"It will be very interesting to watch how Samsung's continually impressive ads affect the company's marketshare vis-a-vis competitors like Apple, which, this quarter, did not come close to measuring up to Samsung's advertising prowess," said Ace Metrix CEO Peter Daboll in a statement quoted by CNET.
Ace Metrix' survey, which focused on a Galaxy Note ad that highlights product features, contrasts with a Neilsen report on the company's Galaxy Note ad aired during the Super Bowl. The latter commercial took a dig at the iPhone, showing a line of disgruntled customers waiting to buy Apple's smartphone. Follow-up surveys showed the Super Bowl ad to be quickly forgotten and poorly ranked.
Although Apple's products have maintained consistently strong performance in terms of shipment numbers, the Ace Metrix survey suggests the company's recent iPad ad titled "Retina Display" has scored lower than several ads released by Samsung, Google, Sony, Motorola and Nintendo.
