Galaxy Note users get early taste of ICS
An anonymous source has leaked an internal Samsung test-build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy Note to the team at RootzWiki. Before making the download available to the public, the site used an internal build tester to identify what worked and what may not. In most instances, the Galaxy Note’s performance with ICS is both stable and enhanced.
All major functions including phone calls, LTE, MMS, GPS and Google Talk and Video Chat work properly. Hotspot functionality for AT&T also works. Some changes to Gingerbread include the Samsung Planner now being built into the Calendar app. There are also new Calendar widgets and a new Memo widget.
Aspects of the build that may give Galaxy Note owners pause include the absence of Premium Suite, the TouchWiz launcher crashes on first boot, but not subsequent boots. TouchWiz will also crash on adding a Google Play account, while the build will also increase a user’s flash counter. The build will not wipe the an external SD card, but an the internal SD card will be formatted on installation of this build.
