Google Chrome apps now easier to search for
Google on Wednesday detailed some changes to its Chrome Web Store to make it easier for users to search the tens of thousands of apps and extensions. The changes include a new Trending filter that will show the most commonly downloaded apps. The early version of the feature will categorize apps by 'warm' to 'on fire' to indicate their rate of growth.
Also new are subcategories, with Entertainment further divided up by Music & Radio, for example. The search box also benefits from a new autocomplete suggestion that will finish the search query for a user, or at least offer options.
Finally, each app carries a badge that indicates their functionality. Thus far, there are only two: playable on Google+ and offline, though more are promised. Users can look for other apps with the same function by clicking on the badge in the app's landing page in the store.
