Pulse signs its biggest content deal with Bonnier

Reading app aggregator Pulse has boosted its content by making a deal with magazine publisher Bonnier, TechCrunch revealed. Bonnier will let Pulse app users access 20 of its special-interest magazines, including Scuba Diving, Parenting, Sound + Vision, and others. While Pulse has some 300 content partners in place right now, this deal is said to be its biggest to date.

The two made a deal to bring Popular Science to Pulse in July of last year. That proved very successful, with Pulse subscriptions going from 60,000 to over three million in January. It's one of the most popular magazines available on Pulse, the company said.

Akshay Kothari, the founder and CEO of Pulse, does plan to make money on the content within its app. This may include targeted ads but a "significant audience" needs to be built first.

Bonnier offers 28 iPhone apps and 66 for the iPad for its various magazines.
