Sony fixing 'sidetone' problems with PS3 Wireless Headset

PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset getting tweaks

Sony on Thursday made owners of its PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset aware that it was planning to fix a problem existing ever since the PS3's 4.10 firmware update. It wanted to improve conflicts between "sidetone," the inclusion of the wearer's own voice to provide feedback, and some games. The addition had produced "unintended" effects, Sony said.

The complaints have stemmed mostly from a rise in background static while playing games that supported the microphone. Gamers could turn up the volume to help mitigate the problem, but couldn't get rid of it completely.

Sony publicly acknowledged that it didn't yet have a timeframe. No answer was given as to the exact fix, although some have also asked that Sony let them turn off the sidetone option entirely.
