IMDb gives Android users big boost

Fans of IMDb got a lift at the end of the week with a key update to the Android app (Google Play). Both smartphone and tablet owners can now stream movie trailers in HD as long as their Internet connection allows it. Videos can either consume the screen or, on a tablet, play in-line wit the rest of the page.

The update also addresses some "pesky bugs," IMDB said, although it didn't identify them by name.

OS support varies by the device, although it should run on most Android 2.x phones. Tablet support demands either Android 3 or 4 to get the truly optimized interface.
