Asha 306 phone leaked thanks to online manual

The current wave of promised Nokia Asha S40 phones will be joined by a fifth model, the Asha 306, if the recently leaked owner's manual (PDF) is any indication. Unlike the Asha 303, 300, 202, and 203, the 306 forgoes a hardware keyboard, opting only for a touchscreen. The phones are due to arrive sometime in the next three months.

The S40 phone uses a pull-down notification bar like that found on Android and iOS-powered phones, letting users see if they missed calls, change their profiles, open the music player, and navigate tracks. There are also three home screens, dubbed My Screen, App Screen, and Dialer Screen. My Screen lets users place favorites, contacts, and shortcuts there, while the Dialer Screen can be replaced with the music player.

Users can swipe and pinch-to-zoom as well. The Asha range is meant to cater to the entry-level end of the market.

The 306's other hardware specs include GSM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth radios, a 3.5mm headset jack, and a rear camera. It will also get a microUSB port and a microSD memory card slot that can support hot-swapping.

The handset is most likely to be officially unveiled by the first week in July. [via Unwired View]
