Adidas to launch miCoach tracking at July MLS All-Star Match

Event labeled first "smart soccer match"

Adidas has announced that the 2012 AT&T Major League Soccer All-Star Game will be the first professional event to feature the miCoach team-tracking system. The miCoach system will enable soccer fans to view live data related to overall team performance and individual metrics from each player on the field.

The company late last year introduced the adizero f50 shoes, which represent some of the first soccer shoes to integrate the miCoach outsole sensor. The system tracks on-off pacing, average speed, distance, and additional information related to stride.

The sensors relay data to PC and Mac computers for follow-up analysis, while mobile apps for Android, iOS and BlackBerry enable users to take advantage of GPS tracking and view live tracking for a workout or during a match.

The MLS game is scheduled for July 25 in Philadelphia.
