Instagram for Android download rate still high

The Instagram Android app (Google Play) has been downloaded more than five million times in the six days since it launched. The sign-up rate has marginally decreased from when it reached over one million in 24 hours.

The figure of between five and ten million downloads according to the application download page would suggest the Android user base to be between a sixth and a third of the iOS version, and a total of at least 35 million users.

In the week since it became downloadable, Instagram has released an update to the app and was bought by Facebook for $1 billion.
