Netflix snares new multi-year deal with Hasbro
Netflix has landed a multi-year content deal with Hasbro. The freshly inked contract will give Netflix members instant access to ten popular franchises including new content and catalog seasons of Hasbro content. New titles now available for viewing include Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe: Renegades, The Adventures of Chuck & Friends, My Little Pony, and Pound Puppies.
Later in 2012, these shows will be supplemented by the arrival of JEM & The Holograms, Transformers: Generation 1, G.I. Joe: Real American Heroes, Transformers: Beast Wars and Transformers: Rescue Bots. The new content will be available on Netflix, and on the Netflix “Just for kids” section.
The new agreement is a positive step for Netflix, which has suffered some setbacks in recent times. In early March, its deal with Starz expired and was not renewed as Starz sought to introduce a new pricing structure that would have increased subscription costs for users. However, Netflix members lost access to a number of top-shelf movie and television titles from Disney and Sony as a result.
